Time with our children is precious. We have a minimum of 16 summers with them at home! Fingers crossed more than that if they end up doing A-levels and go to university. And hopefully they will still want to come on the family holidays for many more years…
Being a parent has it’s many challenges and I certainly don’t find it easy at times. But what I have realised is being there at the special and fun times just makes all the hard work worth it. I have found that being present at all their milestones in their lives, for example their first steps, first day at school…, and then all the special events in their school years – sports days, nativity plays, school trips, assemblies and sports tournaments have been some of the best parts of being a mum. Such happy days, and what makes us feel proud.
Do you agree?
Some of my favourite days with the kids are watching them represent their school in sport. I love the banter in the car on the journey (great way to hear another child’s perspective on what’s going on too, and get all the ins and outs), the build up, watching the kids interact, getting to know them better, being able to shout and cheer (no screaming of course…only sometimes!) for your child and team is just really uplifting. I always feel a huge sense of reward, and also it’s a lot of fun.
What are your favourite days with your children?
Do you get to choose how you spend your time?
I feel so lucky and grateful to have found a business that offers me so much flexibility to be able to choose how I spend my time. Being able to be present for the best times in my children’s life has been priceless. Being there to drop and collect my children from school every day has always been a priority for me, and I know my children appreciate that, because they tell me. For me this is a life balance, I feel completely fulfilled in my business enabling me to have fun and create new friendships, but also being present when my children need me too.
So let me ask you, how happy are you in your work? Does it offer you flexible working? And more importantly, does it feed your passions?
Flexibility at work is so important to people, especially families and I am delighted to hear that more options are out there, working with smaller companies who appreciate that people want to be more home-based, working around their commitments, e.g working from 9-3 while their children are at school and then maybe finishing things off when they are in bed. Also I love that technology allows business to be run from a mobile phone, so it doesn’t matter where you are in the world…having an online business this is so true for me, and a huge benefit.
If you would like more life balance, I would love to have a chat, so please get in touch. Drop me an email.
Having balance is so key to our health and wellbeing and managing stress levels. As a mum, life can become so busy, and finding that “me time” is rare, but find a way to build it in to your week.
For me, it’s my fitness, yoga is how I start my week, which is so therapeutic on many levels and sets my mindset for a great week, and then running really helps to clear my mind, re-focus and also it can be very meditative too. Find what re-energises you, and re-charges your batteries…to continue at the fast paced world we live in.
Over to you.
I would love to hear your thoughts on this highly debated subject, so all that is missing on this page is your comments, please do leave me a message.
All the best,
P.S. Pass it on.
